Based at Goldsmiths Community Centre our active group meets weekly to take part in a range of projects and activities. We are open to all ages, faiths, backgrounds & ethnicities and genders.
Our core purpose is increasingly awareness of men's health and getting people talking openly about health and wellbeing. Our group seeks strong bonds built up through team work and collaboration.
The main cost for the project is hiring space and facilitating our weekly meetings at the centre as well as funding our community work including river cleans and clear up, renovation and repair projects at Goldsmiths. A further £1500 has been budgeted to carry out vital repairs at the centres children's play park, the allotments and forest school area. Any additional money raised will go towards building a permanent outdoor pizza oven (how ever it really is a case of the more we raise the more we can acheive!)
Each week we take part in pub games (darts, pool, skittles & table tennis) we enjoy playing music, holding BBQ's, growing fruit and veg, repairing furniture to sell to name a few... However we have new ideas all the time and would like to hear yours..
This summer we have been renovating a sailing boat & will taking it for a summer river trip with open top canoes and kayaks as well as undertaking much needed clearance, renovation and repair work of the facilities at Goldsmiths Community Centre.
Our outreach group gives men (and women) in a highly deprived area of London to get up, get involved and help themselves.
In short, we empower men to take responsibility for their wellbeing and health, by providing positivity, passion and a push. We also provide links to quality information, support, and activities and project work of interest to local men.
Please get behind this worthy cause and help us to empower men by talking more openly about their wellbeing and health, for this and future generations to come.
