To help to pay vet bills after little Dottie Dog was mauled by a dangerous dog in a sustained attack. Any funds raised in excess of Dottie's vet bills will be donated to Save-A-Pet a local Lancaster-based charity that provides assistance with the payment of veterinary costs to persons on low incomes and/or benefits. So please give generously.
Dottie's treatment will be ongoing for a while and so it is likely that the total cost will be higher than the £750 incurred so far. On Thursday 7th April Dottie Dog was being walked by family friend Mandy on a local meadow when a powerful dog attacked her. Four teenage boys kept trying to pull the dog away but it was so strong that it managed to attack Dottie three times. Mandy tried holding Dottie up out of the way and the dog mauled her too. Eventually the dog was distracted by shouting and a 17-year old girl helped Dottie and Mandy to escape to safety. These actions saved Dottie's life and possibly Mandy's life too.
Dottie Dog is well known to customers of Slip Inn Lane Emporium in Lancaster where she is the shop dog. Her owners, Andrew and Lynne Long, adopted her from Animal Care and love her greatly and they are enormously grateful to the teenagers who came to the aid of Dottie and Mandy. Their special thanks go to dear friend Mandy who fought so bravely to keep Dottie out of harms way.Unexpected vet bills are a blow to Andrew and Lynne.
Like many traders in Lancaster Andrew and Lynne have been affected by a reduction in trade due to the December floods. Also their market stall pitch was reduced by Lancaster City Council's change in policy resulting in loss of earnings. So please consider helping by contributing a small amount towards Dottie's emergency treatment.
