I am planning a trip to Leros, a Greek island, to volunteer with a non-profit organisation called United Aid Solidarity. They provide; aid, funds, food, baby food and baby carriers.
Check out their Facebook page for more information - https://www.facebook.com/unitedaidsolidarity
I will be helping by distributing food, water, baby food, bedding and blankets, as well as helping with organising where people sleep and how they can progress on their journey's.
I will be going for around 5 weeks, between 28th June - 4th August.
I will be trying to pay for a lot myself, but would appreciate any further support. Any extra money raised will go straight to United Aid Solidarity to help in their efforts to support the refugee's.
Volunteer accommodation is 5 euros per night, therefore in 5 weeks it would cost around 175 euros.
I have been told I will need around 10 euros per day, which would be around 350 euros.
Travel would include flights to Athens, then a ferry from Athens to Leros. A return trip will approximately cost £180
I will also look into buying extra luggage space so I could do a clothing collection.
I will make sure I'm completely transparent with what the money raised is being spent on.
They desperately need volunteers so any help is greatly appreciated, and I'm prepared to work as hard as I can while there.
Thank you :)
