The University of Exeter Shakespeare Society (known affectionately as ShakeSoc) is a student-run group based at the University, which stages Elizabethan productions, alongside workshops and other events.
This February we are excited to announce that we will be staging Marlowe's 'Doctor Faustus', to be performed in Exeter's Cathedral!
‘Doctor Faustus’ explores deep questions in religion and science; the understanding of the universe, the limits of human knowledge and questions of sin. This dark and thrilling play in combination with the iconic and stunning venue of the Cathedral will create an invigoratingly fresh adaptation. We are all very excited to have the opportunity to take part in this bold and intriguing play that can reach beyond the University and be part of Exeter’s wider community.
However, to make our vision a reality we are in desperate need of some help! In order to put on this amazing production, set against the backdrop of such a historical and religious site, we are asking for any small number of donations. We are hoping to raise as much as we can in order to cover the cost of the cathedral as a venue and our production budget, so any donation that you can spare for this would be greatly appreciated!
