My husband and I have a passion for horses and horseback riding. Each different discipline of horse sport requires a certain amount of horse tack. We have felt for years now that there needs to be a better tack shop alternative in the Ottawa area than what is available now.
We have a unique connection to the horse community as we also own and operate Cedarhaven Farms which sells hay to horse barns. In addition, Lee is a farrier and is often connecting with potential future customers in this role.
We both have a passion for the community and for the histories that brought us to this stage in our lives. I would like to promote women in business by hiring women and diverse minorities and train them with management skills that can further their success in life. My husband would like to promote his Cree heritage by supporting local native artisans by selling their wares in our shop. We will also be supporting the small businesses in our community by selling wares from local artisans on consignment in our tack shop.
We are at the stage of "Ready to open our doors for the first time to the public" and we would like to plan for the future full time hours of the shop by hiring, training, and paying staff to start their employment and management training at the Tombstone Tack Shop.
This move to expand our operation takes operating capital. In order to make the business viable and offer the opportunities that we have committed our passions to, we require some operating capital to get us to the finish line = profitability!
If you find our dream to be in line with your beliefs and you have a passion for the same, please think about participating in this project by contributing to this fund.
