Devon's Beautiful Butterflies

by Devon Wildlife Trust in Exeter, England, United Kingdom

We did it
On 17th August 2021 we successfully raised £8,003 ( + est. £1483.00 Gift Aid ) with 268 supporters in 28 days

With work disrupted by Covid, we need to manage a range of habitats on DWT nature reserves to benefit Devon's most threatened butterflies.

by Devon Wildlife Trust in Exeter, England, United Kingdom

Thank you to all butterfly supporters!

A wonderful response from supporters in the final 24 hours of this campaign meant the total raised was 97% of the £8,000 target we had set - a fantastic result, thank you to everyone who contributed.

These funds are a real boost to our nature reserves staff and volunteers, who were all disappointed when so many work days on reserves were lost to Covid-19 restrictions during 2020 and 2021.

The success of this campaign means that in addition to using staff and volunteer time and expertise, DWT can also use contractors to carry out some of the essential habitat management tasks on nature reserves that will benefit butterflies and other insects - from fritillaries on the North Devon coast and wood whites at Meeth Quarry to farmland butterflies in the Teign valley and heathland butterflies in East Devon.

For everyone who pledged to receive wildflower seeds, meadow booklets and butterfly artwork - we will organise postage of these items over the next couple of weeks.

For everyone who pledged for a guided walk around one of our best butterfly sites, I will be in touch shortly as we plan these tours for spring and summer 2022.

Thank you again to everyone who has supported the Devon's Beautiful Butterflies crowdfunder, a ray of sunshine in a particularly grey August!
