Developing Young Community Leaders

Project by LIDO

YOUNG COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP, love of Israel, fun and fitness. These are the pillars on which this LIDO project stands.

We did it!

On 5th Mar 2016 we successfully raised £1,246 of £1,000 target with 32 supporters in 28 days

New stretch target

We've REACHED our TARGET in just TWO weeks!!   Can you please help us Double It!

Simply, we are funding a number of Northern youngsters over a three year period to come to dance training events and learn to lead younger children. They will then go on to connect to the Israeli Dance scene all over the world at various workshops and classes (initially in the UK!) This keeps their love of Israel & of their Judaism alive and cascades it to the next generation.  It’s work we've been doing for over ten years now… and we’re succession planning for the future!

If we can raise an additional £1000 we can double the number of young people we train and... we can pay for a teacher to support them to deliver their own classes. They will learn how to raise their own income (how motivating is that?!) and we can fund some travel for them to join the existing London cohort from time to time, benefiting from peer support and experince too.

So.. if you are in... please don't sit back... help us raise the bar and reach for the sky!!

Now in our 10th year, we have a number of dancers we aim to develop as the next generation of young teachers – building connections across the UK and internationally. In addition to our work in the North of England, we have identified a young dancer with strong connections with struggling European Jewish communities who is committed to taking his skillset further. We have an initial £1000 target to bring two youngsters (our overseas and UK teen/ young adult) to camp this year and support them with materials and music.

In a perfect world, we are looking for commitment for three years funding – and are asking that whatever you might be prepared to put into the pot, you will do again next year and in 2018.
