Delicious Clam Need a New Home!

Delicious Clam Need a New Home!

Delicious Clam, Sheffield, need to raise funds to relocate their non-profit practice space, studio, and label in the face of redevelopment

We did it!

On 16th Sep 2016 we successfully raised £875 of £700 target with 54 supporters in 28 days

New stretch target

Any extra funds will go towards improving the space, putting out future releases, putting on more shows, or buying much needed equipment.

Delicious Clam is a non-profit, independent, co-operatively run recording studio, practice space, and record label based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. We are being evicted from our current home on Sylvester Street, which is shared with Tye Die Tapes and Aitken Audio, to make way for redevelopment. We have until the end of August to relocate.

We are raising funds to be able to relocate so that we can continue to record, practise, put on shows, and be a space for music to exist within the city.

The label, situated in the Cultural Industries Quarter, offers an accessible practice space, studio, and release platform for next to no money. It is run in the founders’ spare time, and makes no profit. It has helped Sheffield’s music scene thrive over the past two years, and has created a hub for musicians, artists and creatives. Delicious Clam is home to many well loved bands, including Best Friends, Nai Harvest, Thee Mightees, Thumbuster, Radical Boy, Fruit Bomb, and Avida Dollars, and a selection of artists and creatives.

Redevelopment in Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter will see the current home of Delicious Clam demolished to make room for flats and office spaces, echoing a similar narrative that has been heard throughout the country over the past few years. London’s Power Lunches and the Kazamier in Liverpool have closed in comparable circumstances, where plans for luxury redevelopment have forced them out. Glasgow’s Arches, Leeds Cockpit, Norwich's Owl Sanctuary and many other DIY and independent music spaces have faced closure, inciting the fear that the UK music scene is under real threat.

As part of the fundraiser we are hosting an event at Picture House Social on 9th September with a host of live bands and DJs, more details to be announced on the Facebook Event here.
