Peat Rigg is a residential Outdoor Education Centre in the North York Moors National Park. Every year over 2500 young people step out of their comfort zones, taking part in challenging and rewarding Outdoor activities. At the same time, they develop confidence, self-esteem, social and team skills - the real skills that every young person needs for life.
As a Social Enterprise, we have a broad range of clients, from Schools and Colleges, to Special Needs groups and Management groups.
Peat Rigg is in a beautiful rural setting, but the down-side of this is that we are quite remote for the emergency services. With the ever increasing number of special needs clients, and the risk of working with people with un-diagnosed heart conditions, we want Peat Rigg to be prepared for a traumatic event.
We need to raise £961 to buy an automatic defribrilator. We hope that we will never have to use it for real, but the peace of mind of having a defibrillator would be fantastic, and it would give our staff and our clients immense reassurance.
As a reward for supporting this project, we are also holding two 'come and try it' activity half-days at Peat Rigg on Saturday 26th of August and Saturday 2nd of September 2017. If you pledge £25 (and e mail or phone Peat Rigg to book your preferred day and session) you can come and take part in half a day of on-site activities such as zip-lines, bushcraft, archery, Jacobs ladder, crate climbing and geo-cashing.
Of course if an activity day isn't your 'cup of tea' we would still very much welcome any donations you are prepared to give.
So please donate and help us achieve our target.
