Cardiac Arrest can happen any time, we want to provide defibrillators to local Youth Football Club Kinsbourne Youth FC.

My names Albie Mills and I’ve spent considerable time in youth football with both my son Albie (12 years old) and Daughter Demi (10 years old) and enjoyed every moment of it. Over time I’ve gone from a parent, assistant coach and now an FA qualified coach with linesman and referee duties along the way!

Kinsbourne Youth FC is a brand new start up club affiliated with the Hertfordshire FA and just building this this was a mammoth task. Expenses quickly pilled up along the away but local sponsors have made this happen of which all at the club is greatly appreciative.

A cardiac arrest is when a person’s heart stops pumping blood around their body and to their brain. It causes the person to fall unconscious and stop breathing, or stop breathing normally.

Research shows that over 90% of sudden cardiac arrests in young athletes happen either during or immediately after exercise and those with an inherited heart condition can be up to three times as likely to suffer a sudden cardiac arrest if they participate in intensive or strenuous exercise.

At least three fatalities occurred during football matches or training this year in England due to cardiac arrest, including former England international Ugo Ehiogu, who died whilst working as coach at Tottenham Hotspur FC. We are hearing the very sad news that more and more fit young men (and women) are passing away after a football/rugby match.

As a community youth football club we feel it necessary to act and protect our children by ensuring at least 1 defibrillator is available to all our matches and training sessions. I now ask for family, friends and those with a love for the game to help raise additional funds to provide a defibrillator for Kinsbourne Youth FC.

Each AED costs between £1000-£1200 and as well as this crowd funder page I'll be completing Movember to raise funds for both Men's health and help increase the funding for a defibrillator. We are looking to purchase initially 1 AED for use at the training ground and also at home and away games. With this 1 AED we have the potential to safeguard not just our team players but also the opposition and potentially anyone within the vicinity using the community park and fields. The AED will also be available at all Home and Away games safeguarding players and spectators.

Every donation counts so no matter how much or little you can provide we all at the club thank you.

Kind Regards,

Kinsbourne Youth FC
