  • The family (Carolyn, Kathryn & Rhys), have decided to start a memorial fund for the benefit of the pupils of Bryn Celynnog Comprehensive School, following the death of David Evans, who sadly passed on Tuesday 26th May 2020 due to COVID 19.

Dai had such a passion for teaching & the well-being of the pupils that we wanted to do something that was close to his heart.

Please, give what you can so that he can leave a lasting legacy at Bryn Celynnog Comprehensive School.

The fund will be administrated by the head teacher and will be used for academic prizes & good causes outside of normal school spending.

‘Dai’ joined Bryn Celynnog in January 1985, retiring July 2018, dedicating 33 years to a school he loved. During his time at Bryn Celynnog he was an incredibly successful Head of Mathematics before becoming Assistant Headteacher in 1996, leading their sixth form provision to excellent standards.

Dai was, without doubt, one of the most committed teachers that you could have the pleasure of being taught by, or working with. The care that he provided students and staff was second to none. He always made time to support students whether it was teaching them their times tables or tutoring them through step papers in preparation for interviews at Oxford and Cambridge.

One of Dai’s great skills was providing students the opportunity to achieve life changing learning experiences. He believed in challenging all students to achieve their potential and he would, unashamedly, do whatever was needed to break down the barriers that his students faced.

Dai’s passing has been reported on by Wales Online and in The South Wales Echo, following 100’s of kind messages from former pupils and friends on Facebook.

Crowdfunder is making it 100% free for community and charity crowdfunding projects during the coronavirus crisis.
