Keep The African Experience in Gloucester

Keep The African Experience in Gloucester

To raise funds to stabilise this enterprise so as to continue offering authentic African food here in Gloucester and Gloucestershire.

We did it!

On 10th Mar 2017 we successfully raised £530 with 19 supporters in 28 days

Hi, my name is  Wanja Odhiambo, born and raised in Kenya. I have  been living in Gloucester, UK, for over 13 years. It's been a journey of growth and development, as an individual and as a family as we have endavoured to be a part of our local community.  A big part of this was when we set out to start an African themed restaurant in the city of Gloucester nearly 6 years ago. We started in a small 20 seater space, and grew in the last 2 years into bigger space,  all within Gloucester.  We have been so blessed to receive such tremendous support from individuals, families, local authority and media and even other businesses as we continue to be one of the most highly rated restaurants not just in the city of Gloucester but in the county of Gloucestershire. (We are highly rated on Trip Advisor and Facebook). This is more than just a business for me, it is and has been a great way to meet wonderful people, many of whom I now call friends here in Gloucester and Gloucestershire at large. Also, many people that visit us from other towns and cities express the need to have our kind of dining experience nearby, so that they can go eat there  as often as they liked. We have witnessed a family from Wales come to Gloucester  exclusively to eat with us amongst others. This is my inspiration...people that continue to fuel me make this enterprise to be the best that it can be. I would love to keep the dream alive....to offer authentic, freshly prepared  African food in a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere to as  many towns and cities in the UK as possible. Recently, I have encountered several setbacks in carrying on this dream of offering an African Experience to my guests, as I have not been able to access loans or any funds to sustain the growth of the business.  I am passionate about keeping The African Experience in Gloucester as the support to remain open is immense, with lots of expressions of goodwill. I'm looking for support to make this happen, and hopefully, African cuisine will continue to be an addition to the diverse dining experiences in Gloucester and Gloucestershire at large. With your support, you join in being part of an enterprise that is more than just about making money, as well as being a part of revolutionising the dining and culinary experiences not only in Gloucester but hopefully in time, across the UK. You will also become a part of my family's continuing story of overcoming obstacles to achieve our dreams and aspirations. In continuing to pursue this venture I hope that I can join in with others that are an inspiration to all, young and old alike. That where there is a will there is a way, and that with hard work, perseverance, faith, and support from well wishers, all things are possible!

Thank you and God bless.

Wanja
