We did it
On 23rd May 2012 we successfully raised £870 with 27 supporters in 30 days

We are a theatre company with a difference. We create fast paced, innovative and textually rigorous productions of some of the greatest classics from the European theatrical tradition. Well, so what? What s our difference? The difference is we do this whilst also ensuring we reflect the hugely varied racial, cultural and socio-economic make up of modern Britain. And to do that properly seriously and with real commitment needs funding. As You Like It will mark Custom/Practice's fourth production to date. We have already played to a variety of audiences made up of first time and seasoned theatre goers, all of whom have praised us for our clarity, ingenuity and inclusive ethos. We have consistently worked with artists from all varieties of backgrounds. Your money will help us to continue to employ actors and creatives from a truly varied background, based 100% on talent and commitment - rather than being limited to working only with people who are privileged enough to be able to hone their craft without financial compensation. And only by reflecting the true diversity of our society on stage can we hope to attract a truly diverse audience. We ve already worked hard to raise the funds needed to stage our vibrant, passionate and dynamic spring production, As You Like It. These funds are being used to create the production including covering all of the materials/designs required to mount a stunning and beautiful show. The money we raise through crowd funder will specifically be used to pay the actors and creative team. This is crucially important as only by paying our artists can we be sure that the opportunity to be a part of our production is really accessible to all, based on merit rather than personal circumstances. This is your chance to be a part of history! Help us to entrance and delight audiences with our exciting, funny and touching show whilst also being part of a movement for social change. Join us in our aim to push the boundaries of the British theatrical landscape and throw open the doors to welcome all. Shakespeare is the epitomy of Western playwrights who portray the human condition, hence his relevance to our society, 400 years later. In the same way that Shakespeare speaks to all in our society, we believe that all theatre is at its very best when it truly reflects the society it is being presented in. And in the modern western world this means that not just audiences but actors and creatives alike should be drawn from as reflective a racial and socio-economic background as possible. We hope you agree. For further information on Custom/Practice please visit www.custompractice.co.uk
