Cumwhinton School field drainage
Not quite
Unfortunately this project was not successful.

To put drainage in field to allow for access to both villagers and children within school all year round.

Cumwhinton is a rural primary school with 187 pupils on role. We are a very sporty school and promote healthy lifestyles both within our curriculum and outside the school day. We are currently the only school in Cumbria to hold the afPE Award as well as achieving Gold in School Games for 3 consecutive years. We are currently 5th in Cumbria for Indoor Athletics and 3rd in Cumbria for Keysteps Gymnastics as well as holding the girls trophy for County Cross country and girls and boys trophies for Rural cross country. With this evidence of success I feel it shows the determination and dedication of our children and staff team. The pupils and staff will train regardless of weather and conditions – giving up lunchtimes as well as weekends, but the school field is not accessible when it has rained. We run Athletics on Mondays after school and when it has rained the field is literally a bog. During PE lessons we have to apologise to parents for the state of PE kits as they go home caked in mud. We feel the school would flourish if we had a field that was accessible all year round and the children would be even more willing to train and therefore excel in their chosen sport rather than worry that they are going to be covered in mud.
