My name is Craig, I am a proud father and (often annoying) fiance to my dearest wife-to-be. I am a happy go lucky individual and love to please people and bring a smile to their faces. I have been living in the Highlands for the last 6 years and I am very appreciative to call it my home. I love the landscape, the language and its folk.
Recently, while working for a local delivery company I have become familiar with remote communities in the Highlands which has lead me to begin to develop an idea which may be a huge help:
Some of the communities and housing schemes around Lochaber are cut off from amenities which many of us take for granted. Often the residents of these small communities must make long journeys just to purchase basic essentials. I believe there is a gap in the market for a mobile shop that could visit these residents on a regular basis. It would be a lifeline service for the elderly and the disabled, especially during times of sheilding and lockdown. It would be very convenient for the residents of the more rural communities to avoid long commutes for the sake of bread and milk. I would plan to stock everything your usual corner shop or newsagents would. Customers could also place requests for more specific items.
I have given myself the target goal of £10'000 this would secure a reliable van to use for many years and some budget left over to make adjustments to the vehicle for it to fulfil its function. once this is done, then its time to get down to business. I would drive around different routes on certain days selling my goods and taking orders. I would want to get the wheels in motion on this ASAP (pun intended!)
Please if you can support this idea and pledge what you can I would be eternally grateful and I'm sure the most vulnerable people in Lochaber would also be for this game changing service.
