A recent study showed in 2016 that the number of people participating in cricket at least once a month is around 278,000. Cricket4Charity wants to take advantage of this by encouraging people to raise money for charity whilst playing cricket. Traditional charitable giving takes place at your front door or on the street, you don't feel like you've got a reward for your hard earned pounds. Well if you're a cricket lover, then we can change that.
Who are you raising money for?
Unlike many charitable organisations, we don't have one single entity that we send money to, we let the host club decide who they want the funds raised to go to. For example, Lancashire have their own Cricket Foundation, Lords have the Lords Taverners, or alternatively, we may choose the charitable organisation that will benefit from the funds raised.
We not only want to raise money by playing cricket, we want to give those who play, the most incredible cricketing experience they will ever have. Many recreational cricketers don't get to experience the feeling of pulling on a coloured kit in a T20 cricket match at Old Trafford and hitting a pink ball, bowled by Matthew Hoggard, for six. With Cricket4Charity you can! We want to create an unforgettable experience for all involved and this will not only include the game itself but a pre-match lunch with the likes of Matthew Hoggard as well as raffle prizes and auctions of cricketing memorabilia, including signed England shirts.
How can you help?
Like everything in this modern world, nothing comes for free. For example, for Matthew Hoggard or someone similar to appear in a charity cricket match would cost between £2000 and £5000. If we wanted to have the PCA Masters provide an opposition, this would cost £12,000. If we want to get this off the ground, we need initial funding to pay for such things as the organisation's website, marketing and playing equipment such as kits, stumps and balls.
