Attempt to complete my dream of competing in an indoor cricket world cup and do some charity cricket coaching in the townships of Cape Town!

by Mike Jones in Norwich, England, United Kingdom

I have been very fortunate to be selected for the England Over 35’s Indoor Cricket World Cup team that will be participating in the World Cup tournament in Cape Town, South Africa in October 2019.

Unfortunately, due to lack of funding by the ECB this trip is solely funded personally by each individual player to the amount of almost £3000, which for myself is going to be a challenge. In addition to the tournament itself, I hope to stay in Cape Town for a few extra days to work with the outstanding and inspirational Gary Kirsten Foundation providing cricket opportunities for the under privileged children in the townships of Khayletisha.

Cricket has given me so much during my life and I would love the opportunity to give a little something back!

I have various ideas to raise the money included and there are personal sponsorship opportunities with companies able to put logo's on our England training shirts etc.

There is also the opportunity for logos to be placed on my personal equipment such as bat stickers, bags, gloves with all matches been live streamed to provide exposure for sponsors.

Any support is sincerely appreciated!
