A new committee has assumed control of the Credenhill Community Hall. The building was erected in the early 1970s and is showing its age. The committee are determined to update the facility for the benefit of the existing users and those who currently choose not to use it due to its poor condition.
We have made a small start by installing LED lighting throughout the building. Our next project is to replace the Toilets to meet modern standards including facilities for disabled users. The next item is installation of a new energy efficient heating system. These 2 projects address the most common complaints of our current users and the reason why other groups will not use the hall.
In order to enhance the facility we plan to install a new kitchen to a suitable standard for use by outside caterers in order that family celebrations can take place. It is planned to have regular drop-in coffee mornings and start a luncheon club for the more elderly residents of the Credenhill area.
If sufficient funds are raised we would like to install a 10kwh Solar Panel system together with a battery, this will drastically reduce our day-to-day running costs and bring us nearer to our aim of being carbon neutral.
The Community Hall is available for use by all ages including the physically and mentally impaired. It is seen as a place where people can socialise, learn and improve fitness and wellness. Current users include Cubs, Scouts, Beavers, Young Explorers, 2 drama groups and slimming and yoga classes. It is also used by families for celebratory occasions.
The local Parish Church has also expressed their interest in using this renovated facility for their periodic functions. It has also been suggested that the Church and the Hall collaborate in putting together a Wedding Package that enables local families to have a really fantastic day without having to fantastic prices.
