As a teacher in the UK, it is apparent that there is little money to subsidise school trips. Students have been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit a school in Zanzibar and partake in local workshops to learn how tourism can be sustainable and to see how large businesses are becoming more sustainable and the adverse effects of mass tourism.
As my teaching years have progressed, I have gone from being rather active, to eating rather a lot of comfort food! To support the students, I decided to dust off the running shoes and enter some races. Being rather foolish (and feeling guilty for eating a large pizza) I decided that two off road marathons (one being up and down Snowdon!) and a 45 mile ultra coastal marathon sounded like a good idea. For your support, I promise that I will update my fails and struggles as well as the beautiful scenery from my training ground of Gloucestershire.
Please help me to assist the students reach their goal and travel to Zanzibar for this fantastic opportunity.
Thank you so much!
