When I was young in the early 90s I worked for Our Price music a retailer now long gone. It was in an industry I love enjoying music also coupled with retail which is a wonderful way of being part of and getting to learn about community. Many years ago I had amassed a large collection of music but needed to sell them due to hard times. These times and events have given me the experience and knowledge to run such a business.
My team is me really but with invaluable help of my wonderful husband, who is now enjoying retirement. However, when the business grows and expands it will be a great pleasure to grow the team with staff made from the local community where the needs and merits of candidates are central to the business as well as those who need that extra chance, but of course within the realms of law.
I would very much like to open a shop that sells records, CDs, cassettes, and relevant memorabilia. But I will also of course need to buy at the premise which gives members of the community an opportunity to turn their collections into cash as in my own experience sometimes you need to sell some of your possessions to help a financial situation.
The business will also have an E commerce site, Ebay shop, Discogs, Facebook, and stalls at record fairs.
Depending on funding I hope to rent a shop in South Essex.
The funds will be spent on rent, legal fees, stock, websites, marketing, insurance, fixtures & fittings, set up of phone & internet services, utilities, stationary, and a contingency fund for unforeseen expense.
The vision is to have a business that fulfils my dream, to grow and adapt to community needs, employ candidates from a diverse community, to invest within the community, to seek projects looking for assistance via crowd funding, and to put diversity to the forefront in reaching out to the local community.
If you feel not to donate money then your unwanted record collections would also be greatly received.
Well thank you for reading and I do appreciate your help in realising my dream and vision.
