I'm a sole trader based in Brighton, East Sussex. I am a multi-disabled woman who started a business towards the end of 2018 in part so I could work for myself as opposed to struggling with an ableist workforce system.
Before the pandemic I sold at craft fairs in/around Brighton, East Sussex. I was at 20 events across a period of 10 calendar months. I was due to attend a multitude of events growing in size and prestige over the course of 2020 including comic cons. This would've generated a lot of income which I use to grow the business and get equipment to aid in this. Unfortunately the global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for millions of British small businesses including mine. The events have been either cancelled or postponed which has resulted in a huge loss of potential income. I am unable to claim any of the grants the government has offered for businesses in this time. I'm ineligable for benefits due to living with a working essential worker.
I have set up this crowdfunding campaign to be able to keep running during these uncertain times and continue to develop in a way I haven't been able to since the crisis. I sell handmade vegan soaps, lip balms and candles in a variety of shapes, sizes, scents and colours. I also sell handmade resin items including ashtrays, coasters, trinket boxes, pencil pots and decorations. I have stock ready to be bought but I also do commission and bulk requests. Everything I sell I make myself unless otherwise specified.
