Welcome to the Crowdfunding Page for Cornish Dawn,
Anyone who visits Cornwall falls in love… whether it’s exploring the endless Cornish Coast or one of many beautiful villages there is always something new around the corner to make you adore the County just a little bit more. Cornish Dawn wants to offer the perfect base for your exploring… think of your typical seaside caravan holiday but with a unique twist.
Vintage Caravans converted to create a home away from home. The caravans we’re aiming for will all be pre 1985, and all individually converted so no two units will be the same. Outside we will try and keep as much of the original design as possible apart from a new lick of paint and new tyres… but its the inside where the difference will be. We want to create an interior that will be cosy but practical and modern, with a permanent double bed, electric units such as kettle, toaster and hob, TV/DVD combo and a Wi-Fi dongle (we want people to feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible). The other unique aspect is that you pick the location, then either let us arrange it with some of our local hand picked campsites or we will bring the caravan to your campsite of choice (within West Cornwall to start with), set it all up ready for your arrival – all you’ll need is yourself and essentials, the rest will be ready and waiting.
The Location and Prices:
West Cornwall is a beautiful and magical place to explore with hidden coves, quaint fishing villages and dramatic coastlines with this in mind our caravan will be mobile within the following locations: -
- Falmouth and the Helford River
- Lizard Peninsula
- St Ives and Hayle
- Mounts Bay (Penzance/Marazion/Mousehole)
- Land’s End and the Penwith Heritage Coast
The caravan will be £80 per night and that covers all cost for pitch, facilities and hire. Just pick a location receive your confirmation and directions and the caravan will be there ready and waiting.
You might be wondering why we want to do this… it’s simple, we want to create a business for ourselves that plays to our strengths and offers somewhere for people to make memories. Myself (Lewis) and Vicky love exploring Cornwall, and with our combined experience within the tourism industry and other similar conversion projects such as our personal van (that was converted from ex bricklayers van to day van in a month) it seems like a natural decision.
If you want one last confirmation of what we're capable of just have a quick look at the photos, one shows the before and after of a pony trailer that was converted in 4 months and featured in an episode of George Clarkes Amazing Spaces and the second shows our personal Renault Trafic, that in the space of a month was converted from builders van to day van.
The end result:
We can only get this project up and running with your help, even if you don’t pledge just by sharing this page and following our story will help spread the word and help Cornish Dawn get the wheels in motion, the £2500 we require is enough to buy a caravan, convert it, paint it and add all the interior mod cons that make one of our unique selling points.
