Growing Links was set up in 2014 to to try create an alternative food system, we had noticed that there was so much food waste yet on the other hand so many people were so deep in poverty that they couldn't afford to eat.

At Growing Links we are trying a three pronged approach on one hand we run courses in growing organic food and cookery and have education at the heart of change we are hoping to roll out permaculture training this year alongside organic horticulture, these courses are free at point of entry.

Another approach is finding therapy through growing food in an organic environment at our community garden, here we have an inclusive approach to holding a healthy community of support for each other. Here we have people who have been referred to us through mental health services, drug and alcohol services and local GP's. We don't currently charge for this service again this is free at point of contact. This garden is loved and much needed.

We also run and manage Street Food Project this is a nightly hot meal and a smile and a chat for those people who find it hard, through poverty and can not normally feed themselves. Some of our service users are homeless and some are struggling to keep the roof over their head. With an amazing bunch of volunteers who cook in their own homes and provide a hot meal, without fail for 5 years. We need this service. At the Street Food building we are running a new project, the need arose for a Community Food Store, here we collect supermarket excess and we pack and redistribute bags of shopping to those in need from Hayle to St Just, St Ives and back to Penzance currently we have over 40 households that we serve. Please help us to keep this important work going.

We are asking for help towards our growing core costs. We applied for funding and we didn't get it which has set us back and we don't want to lose what we have worked so hard for for the last 6 years. It costs our organisation £11,000 a year in core costs. These are bills, maintenance, insurance and rent. Please help to share this crowdfunder and any donation would be greatly appreciated not only for us but for the 250 participants we are feeding each week.

Thank you

Lynne
