Conspiracy Theory: A Lizard's Tale

Conspiracy Theory: A Lizard's Tale

To create a multi-media, one-man theatre show on the nature of conspiracy theories, their adherents and leading practitioners.

We did it!

On 14th Jul 2017 we successfully raised £2,280 of £2,000 target with 92 supporters in 28 days

New stretch target

£2000 will get me a technician and multi-media artist. £3000 will get me directorial assistance. Without someone to say "Marlon, that's a bit shit, do something better" there's always the risk that it would be a bit shit.

So help me make the stretch target for maximum avoidance of shitness.

Thanks x

Conspiracy Theory: A Lizard's Tale

"Marlon's a Jew. This didn't bother him until he realised that some people he knew didn't believe the Holocaust happened. A darkly comic tale of one man's journey through the conspiracy underworld. Marlon examines why conspiracy theories are more popular than ever and how fake news gives rise to ancient slander. A comic tale which is no laughing matter."

Help me make this show!

Like, please.

There will be four performances at Greater Manchester Fringe Festival in July followed by a full run at the Edinburgh Fringe in August.

Reasons why you should part with some cash to help Marlon make this show...

Because you think conspiracy theories and many of their leading practitioners, such as Alex Jones and David Icke, are a cause of harm.

Because you think I'm nice.

Because you are passionate about the fight against Holocaust denial.

Because 9/11 conspiracy theories really get on your tits.

Because you believe the White Helmets have saved thousands of lives in Syria and don't like seeing their repuation sullied, along with that of Jo Cox, by the conspiracy movement.

Because the global Jewish banking cartel have already told you that you have to.

Because the idea of a biting satire of the conspiracy movement performed in a theatre by me is your idea of good night out.

Because you think this an issue that should have a respone in the theatre - a place where this subject remains muchly absent from.

Quite simply, I am making this show because I believe it is a necessary thing to do.

Having recently worked on a play set in Aleppo during the current Syrian conflict it is apparent that the battle for the truth lies not just in what has past but what is transpiring today.

Seeing David Icke sell out the Apollo in Manchester and preach ancient anti-Jewish hatred to 3000 people whilst barely a flicker of recognition registered in the surrounding community, Jewish or otherwise, was an indicator of it's necessity.

Conspiracy theories are a symptom of a civic and intellectual crisis.

When a critical mass of educated people lose their grip on the real world;

When 4% of Americans believe that the world is controlled by "shape-shifting reptilian aliens" and a further 7% of their countrymen "aren't sure",
When David Icke sells out the Apollo in Manchester with two months to spare,
When millions of people across the western world believe the Holocaust was a hoax,

It is a sign the intellectual rules of enquiry are optional. Rejecting a political opponent's arguement is different from rejecting their reality

Conspiracy theorists may get little airtime, because to give them airtime is legitimise their theories as another point of view, but I believe they are too important to ignore.

I believe we need more debunkers, we need more people to challenge the enemies of the Enlightenment.

If you feel the same, give us some dosh and I'll put it to good use I promise x
