Thank you everyone for making TCFT Phase 2 a huge success
Thank you to everyone who has pledged to date and helped us make TCFT Phase 2 a huge success. Over the two weeks period, over 100 young people from 8 different countries explored through the arts, better ways to live together in this challenging world of ours. Please watch the video above for a flavour of what took place. At the end of the two weeks residency, their work was presented to an audience of 200. Here are just two comments from people who attended the final event.
"What I saw was the empowerment of young people to recognise that they could effect change and simply by talking they were gaining strength for changing tomorrow. Very humbling experience". Philippa (Audience member)
"Most illuminating, and a moving experience. To witness the warmth and camaraderie
amongst such a scattered gathering, the energy, the sincerity, the coming together to focus on common goals and a better future was an absolute treat. You must be extremely proud. Thank you". Geoffrey (Audience member)

We will be in touch with everyone soon to let you know the date of a gathering we are planning to celebrate the young people's achievements, to thank all our supporters in person and to give you your reward.

In these politically and socially troubled times, we believe that it is imperative that young people have the opportunity to collaborate with peers from different backgrounds and cultures, understand differences and build skills in order to become socially engaged citizens. If like us, you believe in the importance of intercultural dialogue, social justice, equality and young people’s empowerment, please support TCFT.
The Complete Freedom of Truth (TCFT) is an international 5 year youth led project with the ambition to develop global youth citizenship through culture and the arts.
TCFT aims to use cultural and arts activities to provide skills training and cultural awareness for young people across Europe.
Tolerance, inclusiveness, deeper learning and an understanding of the other are at the heart of this creative process. It seeks to foster understanding between people from different European countries, transcend language barriers and facilitate the space in which to create emancipatory change through the use of culture and the arts. (thecompletefreedomoftruth.com)
TCFT aims to develop conversations and activism around issues of democracy and European citizenship. At the heart of TCFT is inclusion and the accessibility of the arts to people of all backgrounds, regardless of disabilities, gender, sexual orientation, race or class. It seeks to destroy processes of ‘othering ’and works to encourage a vision of an equal, inclusive and truly democratic European society.
Seeking to integrate and develop an awareness between otherwise disconnected young people across Europe, TCFT has developed a programme where young people come together to discuss social and cultural issues that affect their lives, beginning in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), August 2015.
The artistic programme, creative workshops and discussion groups are facilitated by both experienced practitioners and young people. The programme is youth led and a very diverse group of 100 + young people representing 8 countries in wider Europe, decide the nature of the discussion groups, the main issues which they wish to be represented, and the creative workshops available.
TCFT seeks to create a living connected community of young people from across Europe who are passionate about positive social change within their communities and Europe as a whole.
TCFT is passionate about youth agency, and wants to catalyse the growth of young people into the future cultural and social change makers of Europe. Longer term youth led creative projects address issues such as the European refugee crisis and the representation of minority LGBT groups in BiH and elsewhere in Europe. These projects are run on a voluntary basis, developed and delivered by TCFT young people. The projects share practical examples of ways in which to respond creatively to challenges within our own communities with other young people across Europe.
As part of TCFT phase 2 and in partnership with the University of Bournemouth’s Global Engagement HUB, TCFT young people will be holding a day-long dialogue with MPs, MEPs, human right lawyers and policy makers about the recent UK referendum results and what it means to their future as Europeans.
TCFT Phase 1 documentary
TCFT is coming to the UK
After a very successful first phase in BiH (August 2015), TCFT is coming to the UK this summer (1 to 14 August 2016) and we need your help.
TCFT Phase 2 will see diverse young people collaborating with high-calibre artists, producers, cultural leaders, academics and international peers in a two-week immersive residential training leading to a final large-scale event open to the public.
TCFT UK young people (ages from 13 – 26) will host young people and group leaders from Bosnia, Georgia, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Serbia. They will be supported by professional artists, facilitators, carers and a production and management team across performing, visual and media art forms.
Phase 2 will further enable the development of international collaborations led by the young people themselves.
Phase 2 is being hosted by one of TCFT UK partner organisations (Bournemouth University) and will facilitate full access to the University’s Media Department, which is a Centre of Excellence.
The facilities on offer (which most of the young people we are working with would not have access to otherwise) include animation, radio and television broadcasting, film and photography, a variety of digital media including CGI, Painting with Light, journalism, communications and events management.
We will explore a variety of topics that the young people themselves have suggested including the future of Europe, democracy, gender, human rights, inclusion, the current state of migration and refugees in Europe and the development of the youth voice in policy making. Some of the results of these debates will be used by the young people to develop the content of their creative work and final show.

What young people are saying about their involvement with TCFT
“For the 2016 version of TCFT we are invited to explore the word TRUTH. For me it is an invitation to drop into this very real space with each other where we can live out the essence of who we are regardless of the form it takes. For me, the truth of the world is those that exist within it. In this world there are disabled people, non-disabled people, black people, white people, gay people, straight people…the world is made up of difference. That is the truth. It is an undeniable fact”. Eilis Davis – UK
“TCFT was a significant experience for me - it woke up my love for parkour and inspired me to continue developing my skills at home. Also, an important influence in my confidence and way of thinking was TCFT’s Democracy workshops, which encouraged me to take a step forward in my social activity by participating in The World Forum for Democracy in Strasbourg this year”. Nina Petrov - Serbia
“Over the past five months, I’ve continued on the path of growth and progression that TFCT helped me so much with. Developing my confidence over those two weeks in August 2015 is something I’ve taken back with me to my hometown of Croydon in the UK, as I begin the process of leading out on my youth platform”. Shaniqua Benjamin-UK
“Besides all the obstacles and challenges we faced during the period of organizing and implementing TCFT program, it had an incredibly huge impact on the local community. For people involved in the project and for me as well, it was a real pleasure to be a part of the team. I really enjoyed it with all my heart and I'm so proud and happy we did a great job! I heard comments on different occasions and from different people, but they were all saying the same – how great and alive Srebrenica was and that we needed just 100 young people for it to become a better and happier town; we never had anything like this. We hear these things all the time now since TCFT. It makes my heart so big and I wanted to share it with you and others! I passed by one woman today and she called out, "Bring the young people back!" A Politician, Member of Local Assembly, congratulated us and said that he followed us and saw what we were doing. He said, "Srebrenica was smiling! It's great what you have done! So many young people, so many happy faces, so much positive energy." Milena Nikolic - BiH
