We are a small, village primary school nestled in the heart of Swanley Village. Our school site is open and serves the whole local community due to its playground and green space. In addition to the village, we are also used by the church and Swanley Archers.
During Easter 2019, we were able as a school to fund the building of 30m2 building that allows the school to use it in the day time and the community to use it in the evenings, at weekends and during the holidays. This has allowed for a large number of groups to be re-established in the village such as the book club and woman's group.
This building has enabled us to further include the church and village in the life of the school and developed very strong links. The next stage is to build a small toilet and kitchen area onto the side that will allow the building to become self-sufficient. Currently the school has to be open when it is used to ensure that toilets and kitchen areas are available for occupants.
This extension would enable the space to be used for community cricket matches, sporting fixtures and to encourage more people into the space - an area that is desperately needed by Swanley Village.
In the future, we would also like to replace our playground with a multi use games area that can be used by the local village on a regular basis.
