Community Performance in South Africa

Community Performance in South Africa

Facilitating creative documentation of Community performance practice in South Africa for an online platform.

We did it!

On 20th May 2017 we successfully raised £428 with 17 supporters in 35 days

We are Myrto Papoulia and Tegan Arazny, two MA Applied Theatre students at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, who are committed to sharing the work of Community performance worldwide.

We are very excited for our next adventure! Our project takes us to Cape Town, South Africa where we will work alongside Dialogue to document Community performance with clown, dance and physical theatre organisations.

We believe that this project will benefit Applied Theatre practices and communities from all over the world!

Dialogue is a unique organisation engaged in developing and fostering an international network of Community Performance through the implementation of an accessible online platform. We aim to establish a creative and collaborative documentation process to capture the diversity of our South African partners’ Applied Theatre practices. We will train and share our skills and knowledge of documentation to enable our partners to maintain this process for future practice. Utilising our drama and facilitation skills we will assist this project by introducing a variety of techniques to achieve our aims, such participatory video, photography, storytelling, vlogs, illustrated and written materials.

It is through this project that we endeavour to foster the growth of Applied Theatre practices worldwide.

Whilst we have been fortunate enough to receive some funding we are still falling short of the total funds that we need to deliver this project and we would greatly appreciate your help. Your support will contribute towards travel, accommodation and living expenses so that we can deliver this projects as best we can.

Any donation will be greatly appreciated however big or small, starting from even 1pound, any amount will help. Thank you so much for supporting us.

Thanks again,

Tegan and Myrto
