Many of you will be aware that this year I have decided to run the London Marathon for Teenage Cancer Trust & local Bristol based good causes! Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity close to my heart and Bristol is a City that I love and which I live!
Only half of young people with cancer have access to Teenage Cancer Trust's Units and services and my younger brother was lucky to be one of them! At 22 years of age my brother was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. This was a devastating and worrying time for my entire family but the incredible staff based at Bristol's oncology department saved his life & kept my family safe in the knowledge that they would do all they could to help! He wouldn't have got through his treatment so positively if it hadn't been for the unit and the people we met there. I want every young person with cancer and their families to have the support that we had.
By running the London Marathon I want to give something back but more importantly I want to work hard and coordinate a community wide fundraising effort that will see us raise £10,000. This will help more young people get access to dedicated, specialist support that they need.
In addition, Community of Purpose C.I.C will help local good causes by supporting homeless people get their lives back on track, long-term unemployed people back into voluntary and paid roles and promote incredible young people who overcome huge adversity to achieve amazing things in our City!
There will be lots of ways in which you can support this community wide fundraising effort. You could donate to this page, provide a gift, take part in one of our challenges, organise your own fundraiser, attend one of our events, volunteer or set yourself a personal FUNdraising target.
Please help in anyway you can! Your support means a lot to me and it really helps a lot of great causes!
