We own a public bar with a large function hall that is not at present easily accessible to all the community in the area. We would like to make it accessible for all functions and community events, however, this will only be achieved by installing a ramp to the exterior so that disabled and wheelchair users can use the hall, also by the installation of disabled toilets and a baby changing area. The hall can be used for all kinds of events including weddings and community events. We have disabled customers who come to our premises each month for lunch and to dance to music this group is growing in numbers and more space is needed than what can be utilized in the bar. We have been approached by various groups in the area who would like to use our hall but are unable to because of the lack of facilities.
Our premises are in the heart of a community with a population of over 10,000 people of all demographics, and could be well utilized. So much could be done to help the community if we had the funds to make it accessible to them. We organise events such as summer fayres, indoor markets, DJ nights and mini festivals as well as private functions for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, etc. the only drawback is that disabled and wheelchair users and children under five are unable to attend any event or function.
The money we raise would be used to build new disabled toilets with a baby changing area, we have a room that can be adapted for this use. Also to redecorate and buy new furniture, we would also use it to demolish concrete steps at the exterior and create a concrete ramp with railings.
