To inspire & help others with music & art, giving back to communities with interactive events & providing workshops for children with autism

by Modern Day Jester in Arlesey, England, United Kingdom

Hello everyone, my name is Steen Mottley and I am the founder of my brand
"Modern Day Jester"

This brand is all about the representation of expressing arts, to inspire, bringing people together from all sorts of walks of life and to create a unified family network.

I want to help as many people as best as I can and by putting my own festival on, creating workshops for children with autism, I can give back to communities, inspire others, be able to express yourself and help other talented and passionate acts reach out to a bigger stage.

It all began around 8 years ago when I took to the streets to perform on my Yamaha Djx keyboard to try and reach out to people who could relate to my music and who could see potential with my passion and talents. I did this for many years but always seemed to be hitting a brick wall and it seemed almost impossible trying to reach my ambitions. I've found it extremely difficult in life at many times to try and achieve any of my dreams and ambitions as I've got Asperger's syndrome level 1 (which for those who doesn't understand what that is, its a condition on the autistic spectrum) and its certainly been a roller-coaster in life dealing with the way it affects my daily life.

I've found it very challenging a lot of the times to focus in a clear way, but, I look at it like having a gift as it helps me really channel into my creative side and I always say patience is key and through sheer persistence, pure will and belief,  am now extremely close to achieving my greatest of dreams.

This year, I have been granted permission by a great and kind owner of land who is allowing me to put on my own festival this year on the 28th July. The festival will run for 12 hours and the capacity of the owner's field can reach up to 5000 people. It will take place in Arlesey based on the border of Hertfordshire.

This festival is going to be a great event that will showcase some amazing talents, from live music to awesome Art, magic and comedy show's on the main stage to letting your hair down and having a good boogie in the DJ tent. Or how about having fun at some of the great attractions (including mobile rock climbing, a giant Arcades marquee, a family area with a bouncy castle and face painting, or chilling and relaxing by the giant bar, tasting some of the delicious unique food stalls, or involving yourself with the interactive games that are both adult and children friendly, which includes giant twister, giant connect 4, rounders, swingball and much more,  there is going to be something for everyone here.

I have worked incredibly hard to make this happen and there isn't much time to construct all this together, but through all the years of networking, performing and expressing my passions, i have met a hell of a lot of people who can see the potential in what it is I'm creating and people who have helped are helping and want to help.

The estimation of people will be between 1500/2500 people and its an event that is all based on being part of a family network (hence why I thought going through Crowdfunder would be a great way to make this a reality). With the help from the people who want to be apart of this, with their donations they know that without them this would not be feasible possible at this present moment in life.

I am going to be promoting, marketing this mainly by myself for the next 5/6 months via street performing, playing at open mic nights, networking publicly and promoting via social media outlets. I will do whatever it takes to make this festival happen, funding or no funding, this will happen.

Also, through the funds generated by putting on this festival, I can then look to rent a space that will cater for up to 15 children to put on work shops that can help channel there autism. I will look to get other passionate team members on board who can help teach, express and Inspire those beautiful kids.

Well, guys, I'm nearly finished with everything I want to say about this project but before I go, I want everyone to remember that this is about all of us and being part of a growing movement that is going to continually get bigger and bigger as time progresses. With your support, we can truly make this happen, every donation is extremely grateful and I have set up a reward scheme for people who kindly pledge towards this project.

With your funding, we can really give something back to communities, give talented and passionate artists/unsigned acts a better opportunity to reach out to more people, help children develop there autism and focus there gifts and to be an inspiration to those who don't have any or much understanding what the arts really represent.

I'm so excited that I have persisted with my dreams and ambitions as I know I can help others with there goals in life and this is part of the ethos what this project is all about. Thank you for your time, everyone, its time to go for now and continue working on this project, have a great day and much love to you all.

p.s - I thought I would leave you a few links that showcase to you a bit about who I am, hope you enjoy : )
