We are a team of 6 individuals’ who all worked for the local council in the care setting. Since then, we have set up a CIC (community interest company).
We currently have a day centre for individuals with learning disabilities, mental health and complex needs. This has been a huge success for us and the people who use our service.
We are now looking for your help!
We are wanting to open a community cafe that will provide an exciting and fun experience for the people in our community. We will tackle loneliness and isolation and strengthen the community. We will be providing a low cost ‘no frills’ cafe, serving basic meals and drinks at very low prices so that individuals on low incomes can join in.
We will be offering work experience and a qualification to our own service users and will look to recruit volunteers.
We aim to build friendships, laughter, experience and wisdom together for the people in the community. This is somewhere people will feel welcomed and valued.
Over the last 20 years the UK has become highly segregated by age, thus leaving older people isolated and depriving younger people of their knowledge. People go days with no visits and don’t go out, the isolation and impact on mental health can be devastating.
