My name is Carl Gilson, I have served in the Royal Marines Commandos for 21 years, specialising in Physical Training and Instruction. My career has taken me around the world from operating deep in the jungle, to enduring sandstorms in the desert and mastering the harsh environment of the Arctic winter. My Royal Marines career and development has been pivotal in my life choices and it has carved a fantastic career path full of excitement and opportunity. As you can imagine my Royal Marine career has kept me highly active. I am into all aspects of physical training from Ultra Fit both participating and event organising, functional style circuits, strength and conditioning and many more. I also hold numerous Adventure Training qualifications and I am believer in promoting fitness through Adventurous activities.
Commando Fit is committed to promoting fitness for all ages, levels and abilities. All sessions are achievable, varied and tailored to allow individuals to work within their own physical ability, which allow the sessions to be challenging but enjoyable for everyone throughout.
At Commando Fit we specialise in functional body conditioning sessions as well as one-to-one coaching and mentoring. The key to our instructor’s success is our Royal Marines Commando background and expertise in Physical Training. Our instructors have years of experience in the Royal Marines Physical Training Branch. We pride ourselves on delivering quality training in the most professional manner. The team have the ability to effectively control and instruct a group of individuals using clear and concise verbal commands to capture attention and increase motivation; this is an experience that delivers the Royal Marines ethos: Courage, Determination and Cheerfulness in the face of adversity. This enables us to create a fantastic product using a diverse range of exercises, utilising both body weight and equipment. If health or physical restrictions hinder your ability to do all the exercises we will devise a way to overcome this to get you achieving results.
We believe no one should be left out. Studies have shown that outdoor exercises improve mood, motivation and improve mental health even in less than ideal weather. A well known phrase in the Royal Marines is, “if it’s not raining, it’s not training”. Our sessions can burn between 500-800 calories. This depends on body type and of course your effort level. However, you will not be alone our experienced instructors will be by your side with words of encouragement and motivation every step of the way.

We also cater for kids with our fun and exciting Commando Fit kids programmes. All training is geared to encourage their individual mental and physical development. Commando Fit is registered and insured by REPS

We aim to work with adults of all ages, schools and disadvantage children in the community and surrounding areas which will not only improve their fitness but improve their mental health and wellbeing.
