Colne Radio has been given a licence by OFCOM to broadcast on FM. Which means that people living within a 5km radius of the transmitter can listen to local programmes presented by local people on their radio at home, at work and in the car.
But we need to raise the money to make this happen. We can’t do it without you.
Community radio is a great way of getting people talking and sharing at a local level. It can promote local music, stories, news and campaigns that otherwise might not be given a hearing.
It’s an opportunity for local small businesses, charities, community groups, schools and voluntary groups to have a say and be heard.
Colne Radio can provide an outlet for people in its broadcast area to express their views, raise concerns and share good news and success. Community radio is also often the only way that people with little or no experience of the broadcast media can find a way into broadcasting - and we will be offering the opportunity to do just that.
Colne Radio, as a community led and community serving resource is an ideal platform through which to celebrate the area’s broad diversity and cultural mix. We want to support other voluntary and charity organisations in the area who are also in the business of helping people, by giving them a louder voice in the community.
We’re ready to go. We have a great team of enthusiastic volunteers, some tireless and experienced managers and a committed and knowledgeable board of trustees. We need funding. So please take a moment to see if you can donate and help us reach our target.
We’re offering some great rewards. Whether it’s a simple dedication on air, some training on how to get on air or even your own one off show, take a look at the list of rewards here and see if there is something that appeals.
Your donation, however small, takes us a step nearer going FM.
