Raising funds for school laptops to help children start their digital journey with pupil's father cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats

We did it!

On 4th Sep 2017 we successfully raised £2,580 of £2,500 target with 85 supporters in 56 days

New stretch target

If we can raise the £2,500 towards the essential laptops, any "stretched" extra funding received will go towards tech extras like educational programmes.

The children of Clifford Primary School in rural Herefordshire, UK, need your help. We are raising funds to buy educational laptops for the school children. We are part of a small rural community that relies on technology to provide links to the outside world. It is key that children at our school are computer literate and can use the Internet to problem solve, as well as learn to use digital technology to understand and respect different cultures, learn new languages, link with children in different communities and countries, and generally enhance their understanding and wonder of our global world beyond the school gates.

However, UK wide government funding cuts for school resources has impacted our school hard. As a result, there is no money for educational laptops for the children.

The Parents and Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) at Clifford Primary School are hoping you can help us raise £2,500 to buy five laptops for the school’s 90 children.

To raise awareness and fund-raise, one dad, Scott Wallace, has decided to go the extra mile. In fact, the extra 1,000 miles, cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats in less than two weeks.

Not an ideal candidate for the epic cycle, Scott has Type I Diabetes and is 47 years old; he’s going coast to coast to prove the power of digital and how the world can be a better place when connecting people to good causes.

Scott will be providing daily updates of his cycle journey via Instagram and Twitter, so anyone who wants to follow his adventure, can track his progress, wish him well and donate to this cause.

Head Teacher, Marie Thomas is keen to point out the educational benefit of the new laptops: "With the right digital equipment, our school children can open their eyes, ears, hearts and minds to the world beyond their school community and can become skilled, responsible, informed citizens of tomorrow’s world.”

The laptops will be used across the school – from Reception to Year 6. They will act as gateways to the children’s digital education, from methods of coding, computer science, through to renewable energy and how to live sustainably.

Please support us and Scott’s epic cycle ride, by pledging online and choosing from the selection of great rewards we have lined up.

Please pledge today - and thank you for helping make Clifford Primary School better equipped for a forward thinking learning environment.
