The East London School of Music (ELSOM) was formed in 2015 to provide affordable stimulating musical training platform of the highest standard to music students of all levels and all ages.
We cater for ages from 5 years all the way to adult. Our relaxing and supportive environment allow students and tutors to flourish and work together to develop and enhance everyone's musical abilities, including composition and performance. We aim to ensure that children, young people and adults are given the opportunity to be creative whilst learning the proper way to play an instrument, become a singer and/or become composers in their own right.
At ELSOM we ensure that all students receive high quality classical music tuition. Our school is a non-profit musical organisation, therefore you will not be paying huge amounts of money, we keep our fees low and affordable for anyone wanting to learn a musical skill. Our primary aim is to give students quality musical training that is both affordable and enjoyable.
We currently have 5 tutors at the school. All teachers are CRB checked.
Lessons we offer are: Violin, Voice, Flute, Saxophone, Piano, Organ Technique and Music Theory.
We are currently seeking to raise funds to purchase extra instruments for the school, i.e. to replace 2 old pianos, to purchase 4 student violins, 4 flutes, 2 Alto Saxophones, installation of a new pipe organ for our current organ students to practice on.
We also cater for Special Needs students. We currently have two SEN students but we are seeking help to fund 2 SEN Music Teachers.
There are potential students who are unwaged and cannot afford lessons, therefore, some of the funds will be used to subsidise their lessons. We like to give people from walks of life the opportunity to learn
Finally, we would like to register the school as a Trinity College exam centre where all students who live in the Hackney area or anywhere nearby, can travel to the school venue to take exams. In order to qualify as an exam centre, the school needs to have instruments in good working order (i.e. especially pianos) and proper desks for theory exams. There is a one of cost of £500 to register.
The school will be most grateful for your help.
