Josh was born with a liver condition that meant at the age of 8 he underwent a liver transplant. Claire originally planned to be a donor for Josh, but unfortunately due to ill health was unable. Around the same time, Claire also completed the Great North Run raising money for the Children's Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF).
As a result of this, Josh takes 10 tablets a day, which as a side effect makes him Type-1 Diabetic. For years Josh neglected his injections, tried to train as often as he could and not show how embarrassed he was. - Now, Josh wants to show that diabetes and other chronic conditions are nothing to be ashamed of. He believes that everyone has the mindset and determination to turn things around if they need to. He did exactly that and is no longer embarrassed about his scars, conditions or medications.
It's taken Josh 11 years to get to where he is today, happy, confident and healthy. Josh and Claire want to show anything is possible when you push yourself. This year marks Claire's 50th birthday which they had always planned to mark with a physical challenge together.
Although only one charity is listed the money will be split evenly between Diabetes UK and CLDF
