WHATS IT ABOUT?
"Cicala" is a short film exploring one girls battle with mental health. The film focuses on a young woman, Rosa, who travels to Tuscany to visit family in hopes of leaving her chaotic life at home in London.
Whilst exploring the mountains in Tuscany she discovers a dead body.
We wanted to explore the Post Traumatic Grief and the PTSD that comes with finding a dead body and how this would change someones life.
WHERE WILL IT BE SHOT?
The Film will be shot in Ceserano, province of Massa- Carrara in Tuscany. Ceserano is a tiny village at the top of a mountain, with a population of less than 200 people
WHO IS INVOLVED?
Producer, Actress and Development of Original Concept- Leelah Voe McEvoy
Leelah developed the concept of this film with her father Mark McEvoy! Leelah has trained with several London based theatre companies including Shakespeare’s Globe, The Old Vic and most recently The National Youth Theatre. Leelah is represented by Trulowe Management.
Director, Camera Man and Original Concept- Mark McEvoy.
Mark McEvoy has been a photographer for over 20 years building up an eclectic and strong body of work. He completed an MA in Design for Interactive Media in 2002. Since then he has been exploring multimedia through digital-photo narrative and video. Mark has developed several documentary style films however this will be his first fictional film.
Screenplay Writer- Kayla Feldman
Kayla is a freelance theatre director, writer and performance poet. Kayla trained on the M.A. in Theatre Directing at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and the Shakespeare's Globe Directing Studio, and holds a B.A. in Theatre and Performance (International) from the University of Leeds. Kayla is represented by United Agents
Actress- Prabjot Sandhu
NYT member Prabjot is a young actress based in London. After recently completing a one year vocational training course alongside the National Youth Theatre she will be joining us on this exciting project!
Actor- James McEIvar
Scottish born James had his feature film debut in T2:Trainspotting, in 2017 he was selected to join The National Ensemble at Scottish Youth Theatre, The following year he became a member of The National Youth Theatre. In 2019 James was cast in the international Netflix show "Into The Night" as Freddie. James is represented by Revolution Talent.
Actress- Kitty Reed
Kitty is a Sheffield based actress who trained alongside the Carney Academy in Yorkshire and The National Youth Theatre. She is currently writing and developing a one-woman show which is set to be performed this year.
