To run community skill shares sessions which support local community members to reduce their own and the communities carbon footprint

New stretch target

With additional funding we can work in some of the other 8 the villages of the Northern Corridor helping more groups undertake climate action

The importance of grassroots climate  action, both as a flexible response to the climate emergency and also as a panacea to climate anxiety; and via green health volunteering as a method for the reduction of physical and mental health inequalities, cannot be understated.  Communities work best with organisations who understand them, organisations that appreciate the barriers they face and understand the social, environmental and political situation within North Lanarkshire and ultimately can work towards local employment opportunities and community wealth building.

We believe Cloudberry Communities CIC, with its local expertise, the trust already established in communities, its facilities for storage and care of trees and loan of tools coupled with extensive experience of capacity building and community consultation is ideally placed as a ‘One stop shop’ to enable community groups across north Lanarkshire to achieve their local greenspace and biodiversity improvement ambitions, particularly when it comes to Woodland Creation to maximise carbon sequestration.  Our team has experience of community involvement in renewable energy, outdoor learning, community development and active travel  projects including suitably qualified environmental professionals.

We would use the funding to provide skill share and action sessions open to local residents in Chryston and for materials and training for them to undertake climate action projects
