Christmas Pop Up Cafe

to reduce isolation & loneliness in older people during the festive season

by Age UK Barnsley in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England

We did it
On 15th December 2017 we successfully raised £540 with 12 supporters in 42 days

This project is a Christmas Pop-up Café in our One Stop Shop in the town centre in the run up to Christmas as part of our "No one should have no one" Campaign.  The café will highlight the issue of social isolation and loneliness and provide a friendly place where older people will be made welcome and have volunteers to chat with.  It will be launched on 29th November and run each Weekday from 10.00am till 2.00pm up to 22nd December. Older people will be invited to stop off from their shopping and enjoy free refreshments.  Volunteers will be available at each session to provide refreshments, chat and share information about groups and services available over the Christmas period. Volunteers will also share information about keeping warm in winter, staying safe and claiming benefits as well as signposting to other services and social groups.
