To provide Christmas Food Hampers to residents of Haringey with no recourse to public funds, on universal credit or zero hour contracts.

New stretch target

Any extra money would be used to purchase more long life items for the Christmas Hampers, increasing the length of time someone in need may not go a day without food.

I love working in Haringey in a support-worker capacity with a client-group disproportionately affected by complicated immigration statuses, unemployment, mental and physical health problems, social inequality, and relationship breakdowns. As it has for most of the world, the ongoing pandemic has made life on the poverty line increasingly difficult, and with London expected to go into tier 3 again after Christmas, many of the support services that people in need depend on are set to close. It’s therefore my vision to try to provide substantial food items to my client-group who have no recourse to public funds, meaning they can not claim state benefits and are unable to work in the UK. It’s also my vision to provide small gifts to the remainder of my client-group who cannot treat themselves this Christmas because they are on universal credit or zero hour contracts. My target is to help 150 residents in Haringey, and I would like to raise at least £200 to do so.
