A video documentary on hippie counter culture in the summer of 2017, 50 years after from the globally influential 1967 summer of love. My name is Alexander Duddle, I am a 21 old aspiring journalist from Manchester with a great passion for hippie culture. In my documentary I will be comparing the political, social and cultural factors that fuelled the hippie movement of the 1960s to those carrying on the legacy of the hippie movement today. I will visit festivals, communes and rallies to meet the people embracing the hippie counter culture that still lives on today and find out what they think their way of life stands for. I will also be travelling to San Francisco the city it all began and experiencing the vibe of a 60s music festival at summer of love 50th anniversary festival to see if the energy of the hippie movement lives on in the hearts and souls of the people of San Francisco, 50 years after the peak of one of the most influential movements in history.
