I am raising awareness for CALM UK (Campaign Against Living Miserably), having painted a portrait of Chester Bennington

by Joanna Ashleigh Pring in Tunbridge Wells, England, United Kingdom

Who am I?

My name is Joanna. I am an amateur artist from Kent, England.

My project idea

July 20th 2018 is the year anniversary of Chester Bennington's suicide (Linkin Park lead singer). Raising awareness around the subject of mental health has always been something I have been really passionate about, so I felt I would put my creative mind to good use and therefore I have painted a portrait of Chester Bennington in aid of CALM UK (Campaign Against Living Miserably), which is a UK Male Suicide Prevention charity, to raise awareness around mental health. My project campaign will run from the anniversary of 20th July 2018 - 17th August 2018.

In return for a suggested £20.00 donation, you will receive an A4 print of my portrait and all proceeds will go to CALM UK.

Please do ensure you email me your address so that I can post this to you once you have made your donation - joannapring@hotmail.co.uk

Your print will then be sent to you as soon as possible

About the charity - CALM UK

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is an award-winning charity dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. In 2015, 75% of all UK suicides were male.

What do CALM UK aim to do?

  • Offering support to men in the UK, of any age, who are down or in crisis via our helpline, webchat and website
  • Challenging a culture that prevents men seeking help when they need it, through CALMzine and campaigns such as #ManDictionaryand #BiggerIssues
  • Pushing for changes in policy and practice so that suicide is better prevented, via partnerships such as The Alliance of Suicide Prevention Charities (TASC), the National Suicide Prevention Alliance(NSPA)
  • Supporting those bereaved by suicide, through the Support After Suicide Partnership (SASP), hosted by CALM, which aims to ensure that everyone bereaved or affected by suicide is offered and receives timely and appropriate support
