Your donation will mean Chesham Cricket Club keeps running and providing cricket to everyone who wants to play as well as supporting the community through its facilities. We need close to £40,000 to keep the club running and to recover from being closed during the pandemic. Thank you for making that possible.
Chesham Cricket Club is a diverse and welcoming cricket club, operating at the heart of our community for the past 200 years. We are an ECB Clubmark club running seven senior men’s teams, a women’s team and many age-group junior teams for both boys and girls. We take pride in the number of players on our senior teams who come through the junior section and stay with the club and how many of our players give back by coaching and volunteering for us.
But, we are more than just a cricket club.
Based in green belt land, but walking distance from the town centre, our clubhouse is home to many other community groups including the Chesham Comedy Club, a range of exercise classes and host to first aid and safeguarding training courses, as well as being a popular venue for private functions.
We also support non-sporting community groups such as Chesham Comedy Club and the Pothwari Sher music group.
We have have great links with local schools and other sports clubs to help promote engaging and safe sports to keep young people healthy.
Like many other clubs, we haven’t been able to run a normal cricket season. This has had a major impact on our membership income.
We have also not been able to host the usual community fundraising events or been able to open the facilities to the community. These are the vital funding streams that keep the club running.
Thanks to some wonderful volunteers we were able to play a shorter season of cricket, but overall there has been a reduction in our income of nearly £30,000.
We rely on this income to maintain the grounds, the clubhouse and the facilities for the community to use. Otherwise the club will not be able to function.
As well as the usual bills and running expenses, we have a number of projects planned to enhance the facilities, welcoming even more members of the community to get active and socialise.
We have an area ready for a new storage shed and outside tuck shop and coffee bar including improved access for disabled users, repairs due to the nets and plans for much needed maintenance to the fencing, netting and trees around the perimeter of the grounds.
Support this Crowdfunder project and help rebuild Chesham Cricket Club.
We want to get as many people in Chesham and the surrounding area involved in sport and activity.
Help us achieve that and allow more people to benefit from being part of a club community and all the support that comes with it.
To do this we need:
- £10,000 for essential groundworks and maintenance including fencing, outfield renovations and landscaping
- £10,000 for new benches, soft furnishings and kitchen updates
- Stretch target: £20,000 for the completion of storage sheds and outdoor refreshment area and towards unexpected costs caused by the pandemic.
Area ready for tuck shop and storage
Fencing and perimeter repairs
New benches needed
Repairs needed to the nets
We want to see the club open and thriving again as soon as we are allowed.
Cricket, and the community support the club provides, is so important to our players and their families and to the volunteers that give their time to keep it running.
In order to continue to be the safe, friendly and welcoming club that we are we need your help to recover and grow.
This season we have plans for new initiatives to attract under-represented members of Chesham's community in line with the ECB South Asian Action Plan. We are hoping to better reach the diverse BAME community of Chesham and also attract more women and girls to the sport.
We want to bring back junior cricket, including All Stars and Dynamos, and Sunday morning women’s soft ball. We want to see matches played, with friends and families cheering the teams on. We want to see training nights and post-match celebrations. We want to welcome new faces to the club and be reunited with the old ones.
Thank you to all the members and local businesses who have donated to the Crowdfunder and offered items as rewards. We couldn't do this without your support.
