by Cherry Mills in Chepstow, Wales, United Kingdom

Cherished Earth Wholefoods is bringing wholefoods, healthy foods, artisan free from cakes, life and vitality to Chepstow, Monmouthshire, Forest of Dean and the surrounding area.

There is no health food store in Chepstow or the surrounding area! There is a vibrant and positive interest in healthy living and alternative therapies but no health food store. Chepstow has a goliath size Tesco store and a henchman in M&S at the top of town but nothing independent relating to healthy or positive lifestyle choices. It's the same in Caldicot, Magor, Tutshill, Tintern, Devauden, Usk, most of Monmouthshire, the border region of the Forrest of Dean and, to be honest, west of Bristol, Avonmouth and the M4/M48!

Cherished Earth is going to change that.

Monmouthshire is officially the most economically resilient place in Wales and is a far-reaching, well-connected border region with regional neighbours in Bristol, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, Newport, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent and Powys ...so, we're confident we're in the right place. There's also very little independent competition; there's a 15-mile radius, give or take a mile, around Chepstow that is missing any type of dedicated wholefoods store like Cherished Earth, so there is a need. I have spent the last three years working with the burgeoning cafe and alternative lifestyle community in Monmouthshire and Forest of Dean - delicious and healthy eating choices are extremely popular and definitely in high-demand. Plant based food sales increased by 1500% in 2016 and the British population saw a 360% increase in those 'officially' following a plant-based diet so the timing is right! It's not just plant-based diets that Cherished Earth will cater for - there is a significant national rise in demand for all "free from", vegetarian, cruelty-free, vegan, eco-friendly and organic produce and there's nowhere, other than the BIG supermarkets - who have a very limited selection, to get what you need in and around Chepstow.

So what's the money for? Well, the space on Riflemans Way is in need of a little TLC. The unit is a perfect size for a start-up but completely bare and a little bit broken. We want customers to have a super positive experience and for that to happen  we need some fixtures, some fittings, some carpentry work, some masonry work, possibly a plumber, a fridge, a freezer, a sign made, some (plant/nut-based) milk dispensers, some railway sleepers and a couple of large blackboards!

Riflemans Way is the main pedestrian artery between Chepstow's primary car park and the centre of the town. The unit is beside a new wine cellar for the more discerning shopper and all those budding sommeliers. In addition, Cherished Earth is positioned opposite the excellent and increasingly popular Cwtch Cafe from Beveridge & Co and is just 20 yards from the Love & Light alternative therapy centre.  I should mention I have worked for both Bev & Co and Love & Light so I know the street, clientele and town very well!

Cherished Earth Wholefoods will be a cultural tonic for the town and for the area, I'm certain of it!

Cherished Earth will be working primarily with independent produce distributors, local traders and an artisan cakery magician ensuring all food for the belly comes from the heart and, of course, a cherished earth.

I've set-up this crowdfunder to ask you to help me bring whole foods happiness to Chepstow, Monmouthshire, Forest of Dean and everyone connected with these and surrounding areas. I'm putting a lot into this myself and I have support from my husband, my son, private investors and a small group of determined and super supportive friends but to make this dream really sing I need a little more financial backing, that's where you can help most. You can be the fairy on the top of the tree, the sparkle in the eye or the silver darlings making the sea shimmer. I've got all sorts of wonderful surprises, rewards and gifts lined up if you think you can help me bring happiness to tummies all over Wales and the South West!

So what do you say? Can you help a sister out? Can you build the bridge that brings the sunshine to the soul, happiness to the heart and contentment to the belly? Can you be the rock in my sling while I take on the big guns? Can you be part of the choir that helps me sing songs about the power of positive living and healthy food choices???

Of course, you can!
