Football for Cheltenham Town has been suspended until at least 3 April as a result of the spread of coronavirus.
The forthcoming games against Cambridge United, Macclesfield Town, Grimsby Town, Newport County and Forest Green Rovers have been postponed as a result.
Two of those games – against Grimsby and Newport – were home fixtures and that presents a cash flow problem for the club.
Therefore we're proposing a 'ghost' fixture, whereby fans can support the club while the uncertainty of the current situation continues.
We intend to obtain a full copy of a previous match against the Mariners and publish it next Saturday for fans to re-run online, potentially using 'Twitch'.
Fans can choose which match to watch again by way of a Twitter poll later in the week. We can also set-up a WhatsApp group for supporters to enjoy the game 'together'.
We're looking for supporters to purchase token burgers, programmes, match tickets and match sponsorship to replace the income lost as a result of the cancellations.
Every penny will go back into the club to support the club's hard-working staff at this difficult time.
We appreciate it's an uncertain time for many but this is a time more than any other for communities to come together and look after each other, and the things that matter in their local area.
We've set our target at £3,200 to reflect 200 supporters paying £16 each at the 'ghost' turnstile.
Ultimately football doesn't matter, but of all the unimportant things in life football matters most. Stay safe!
The four matches we could re-run:
1. The Play-Off Final (May 2006)
2. Grimsby Town v Robins (October 2015)
3. Robins v Grimsby Town (April 2016)
4. Robins v Grimsby Town (April 2017)
