A little about Chell Parish and our Families Work.

Chell Parish has two Churches, Church of the Saviour located in Chell Heath and St Michaels located in Chell.

The parish covers: Chell, Chell Heath, Mill Hill and Fegg Hayes

The parish of Chell is ranked 159 out of 32,844 lsoa for multiple deprivation, with families claiming benefits aprox 25% higher than the national average. Over 80% of families live in social housing and education levels are well below the national average.

As a church our mission is to ensure that people within our parish and from any background are supported practically and emotional in whatever way we can and we strive to achieve this through our robust outreach families’ work.

Our work to date includes: Emergency Food distribution (feed the parish) ; Parish Fayres and fun days; healthy cooking club; Messy Angels after school club; messy tots group; Sunday’s Kool club; School Friendship/prayer garden; Messy Christmas: Messy Easter: Messy Harvest; Easter and Christmas Hampers; fundraising days for local families; Easter gardens; Uniform bank; Summer’s Kool (Holiday Fun & Food) to name but a few.

The projects we run and the work we do is very much led by the community, we try and meet the immediate need whilst building community cohesion and ongoing community support.

We work very closely with other agencies and organisations in the area. We work particularly closely with The Whitfield Valley Centre, Fegg Hayes Hub, Fegg Hayes Residents Association and our local Tesco store, Burnwood Community School and Mill Hill Primary School. When planning a new activity/initiative we liaise with the above to ensure that we work collaboratively. In addition we all work together to meet specific needs of individual families ensuring that we support the families we work with in accessing all services and opportunities available across the parish.

Over the last 12 months this project has directly benefited 754 adults and 1,279 children

Total Direct Beneficiaries 2,033

The work we do is very much community need led, if families we work with bring to our attention a need within the community or a support gap that would increase community cohesion and reduce isolation then we work together to develop a programme to address that need.

The funding for this work is due to end shortly and to date no additional funding has been found.

Please support us by donating whatever you are able to ensure that this valuable work can continue and more families can be reached and supported.

Many thanks and God bless
