Charlton Rovers AFC - Building for the future

Charlton Rovers AFC - Building for the future

To demolish the existing changing block and replace it with a modern block complete with changing rooms, officials rooms & clubroom.

We did it!

On 28th Dec 2017 we successfully raised £950 with 18 supporters in 56 days

A little bit about us

Charlton Rovers Football Club was formed in 1976 by the parents of young children attending Glenfall Primary School in Charlton Kings, Cheltenham.  The club runs a mini soccer centre through the summer and also boast a Saturday Academy for children in school years 1 to 3, along with  20 youth teams from under 9's to under 18's. We also have a vets team and 3 senior teams. We are one of the largest grassroots football clubs in Cheltenham.  We have nearly 450 children and 80 adults from the local community playing across all age groups, at various venues in Charlton Kings and the surrounding area.

The Vision

We are excited to announce the signing of a 25-year lease for Shipton Oliffe Sports Field. The development of the land will help secure the club’s future, allowing our young players to play and enjoy football for years to come.  We are delighted that this initiative will allow us to offer modern, high-quality sporting facilities to children of all ages at a time when such options are all-too-often being removed at a local level.  We are particularly keen to introduce football as an option for girls of all ages and abilities, an opportunity not always provided by other clubs in our area.
The site is currently derelict and comes with a storage building, pavilion with kitchen and toilets and a changing block. Unfortunately the changing block comes with a leaking roof, antiquated boiler system & faulty showers, consequently, it is not fit for purpose. Plans are in place to demolish these outbuildings and replace them with a modern block complete with changing rooms, official’s rooms, public toilets and a clubroom. Alongside this will be the set up of several new pitches and new water and electric supplies.

What will we do with the money raised from your support?

To demolish the existing changing block and replace it with a modern block requires considerable funding, which is hard, if not impossible, to come by from The Football Association. The plans for the future of the site will give the club a fantastic facility to host all age groups, from our under 9 teams through to our senior first team.
We are reaching out to individuals and businesses alike to assist us with the funding of this exciting project, even the small donations is another step towards us reaching our goal.

The money from your support will be spent on the following:

£8,000 - New electric and water supplies.

£9,600 - Demolition of the old changing block.

£10,000 - Groundwork and footings.

£12,800 - Internal fit out.

£19,600 - Erection of new building.

What's next?

With YOUR help we can deliver a brand new, first-class community pavilion to serve all of the local community and, primarily, provide safe and secure changing facilities for the children and adults who play sport at Shipton Oliffe Sports Field.
