To create an organisation that recruits individuals who want to change and place them with supporting businesses willing to give a chance

by Cee Cee in Liverpool, England, United Kingdom

My significant life events have literally been miles apart from each other. I have lived from one end of the spectrum to the other and everything in between. It's because of the experiences I've had being so different from each other that I feel I am equipped to be able to make a real difference to those who want to change their lives for the better if the opportunity was available. This opportunity is what my business will provide with the support of other local businesses and organisations. For this to make sense I need to go back a bit...

As a young teenager I had two significant experiences which I now know had a life changing effect on my own life and future. When I was 18 years old I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure and told I would never have children of my own... that same year a person that I knew and trusted sexually assaulted me and threatened to kill me if I told anyone what had happened. These two incidents I kept locked in the back of my mind and never spoke of them with anyone. I refused to think about them and just concentrated on my career and achievements. For the next 15 years I worked hard and reached my career goals, in my eyes I was successful in what I was doing and this was reflected in numerous promotions into management positions. I had good friends, a good social life and a successful career... from the outside my life could have looked perfect to some people.

I sailed through those 15 years and didn't have any major incidents to deal with, that was until I reached my mid thirties and the trauma of my teenage years came back to haunt me with a vengeance. All of a sudden my brain was taken over by the incidents I had kept hidden for so long. I could think of nothing else and it was effecting every part of my life. Eventually my head couldn't take anymore and I had a mental breakdown followed by a diagnosis of mental illness. I couldn't work or bare to be around people and then one day my boyfriend introduced me to my new best friend, I would never need any other support again as long as my best friend was there for me. That was the addiction talking, what I thought was my best friend was actually my absolute worse enemy and only I couldn't see it. So for the next four years I lived with a drug addiction that took everything from me and sucked the life out of my body. I lost everything I had worked so hard for, I had no car, no home, no clothes and not one friend who wanted any contact with me. I was a drug addict begging for money and breaking the law to fund my addiction. Every second of every day was focused on where my next fix would come from. I didn't make any effort to get help until I was actually at deaths door and I could see the pain in the faces of my forever supporting family. I got help and I got clean but unfortunately this happened more than once... each clean time was soon followed by a relapse and it was because of the same reason every single time... when a person stops using drugs they eventually over a relatively short period of time start to see a brighter future for themselves. This was the same experience for me on each occasion and my motivation and determination gave me the confidence to try and find some voluntary work that would slowly put me on the road back to employment (eventually) but I was fooling myself. I wanted to change but no one wanted to give me the chance to and that rejection was total devastation. No one was interested in what I had to offer, they didn't want to look at my CV or hear about the skills and experience I had. None of that mattered, all that was in front of them was a drug addict who couldn't and shouldn't be trusted or ever given a chance to change. Sadly this was a popular opinion and the result of constant rejection was relapse and failure over and over again....

Thankfully I am a natural fighter and refuse to give up and this is how my vision was created....

I know that I can create a team to make up an organisation that can give people wanting to change a real chance of being able to. The team will be called Chance & Change and will be made up of highly motivated, non judgemental and open minded people who will help me to recruit individuals who are looking for the chance to change and we can offer that chance with the support of the local businesses and organisations who support our team and have available voluntary positions to help the recruits onto a positive path going in the right direction and the opposite one leading to relapse.

I have a business plan that I am happy to share with potential investors and hope for now a brief outline below of how the business will operate will be enough to help you understand and share my vision enough to support me with an investment or donation....

Individuals will sign up to our organisation online and undergo a straight forward application process to determine what type of voluntary positions they are looking for and to assess each individual's ability and skill set and interact one on one to get to know each other and build a rapport.

Local businesses and organisations who support our team will be sourced via direct contact, advertising and marketing/research. Each 'placement' company who is on board with us will pay the business a standard rate based on a day charge that is the same for all in that category with regards to skill set and experience. An advert will be submitted to my team leader advising of the voluntary position(s) available with required days and times, description of expected duties, the experience/skills needed for the position and if any possibility of a more permanent position arising in the future. Our recruits are not paid for the voluntary work they put themselves forward for available volunteer positions that they feel suited to.  The daily fee paid to my team from our supportive employers will help us to support our volunteers with travel costs, suitable clothing if required, in house workplace courses, background checks etc and hopefully add to other investment and donations made to help make a success of the business with the opportunity to develop and expand throughout the UK and beyond. I have complete confidence in my business plan and see nothing but success and growth from the very beginning.

Thank you in advance for your consideration in supporting this community cause, please share my story and vision to give people the chance to change...
