He has been with the clinic for four years, treating a huge number of clients on a weekly basis, and has built up a wealth of knowledge treating a whole range of tattoos on all skin types.
We see a lot of clients for tattoo removal for a number of reasons. Each tattoo has its own story, its own reason for existing and people have their own reasons for wanting their tattoos removed. But we thought it might help to illustrate some of the common reasons people pursue tattoo removal.
This list is not exhaustive, but it does represent many common reasons we hear from our patients.
It’s a bad tattoo.
A poorly executed tattoo performed by an inexperienced artist is common. Especially the jobs done inside of friend’s apartments. Misspelled tattoos are surprisingly common.
Tattoo has faded over time.
A tattoo’s coloring can fade away. What was once a bright detailed tattoo now looks lighter, duller, and more blurry.
A relationship ended.
Did you get a tattoo to commemorate what you thought was the love of your life? Sometimes, if a relationship comes to an end, you start to look at a tattoo differently.
You’d like to make a career change.
New career might need to mean new you. Some employers might favor a candidate without visible tattoos on the hands, arms, neck, and especially face.
Your spouse is not a fan.
We applaud individuals who are true to themselves, but maybe you have a tattoo that bugs your most significant other and are considering getting it removed.
You’re plain and simply over it.
People change their minds. People fall out of love with their tattoo. We get a lot of these cases at our facility.
How are tattoos removed?
Tattoos are removed with various lasers, including the Enlighten from Cutera. Additional methods include dermabrasion, salabrasion, surgery, and CO2 lasers, but they can leave behind scarring where the tattoo was.
Tattoo removal is any method of removing a tattoo from the skin. There is an extensive range of tattoo removal methods out there including dermabrasion, TCA (acid), excision and of course laser, of which there are various types.
Laser tattoo removal works by pulsing laser light into the tattoo which shatters the ink into tiny pieces, the body spots these particles as a foreign substance and removes the minute ink particles using the natural detoxification processes. Laser tattoo removal does not damage the skin, like excision, dermabrasion and acid.
