"Challenge yourself & realise what you can become"
The word "challenge" is increasingly being used in everyday language to help promote positivity, push boundaries, increase competitiveness and achieve goals. But what if you could use this concept in everyday life to help develop yourself and your children to have a more fulfilling and successful outlook on life. Providing your little ones with genuine life skills and ambition which stands them in good stead for the future. A system that is designed to encourage family time, fun and excitement that develops and grows with you.
Well we've done it and now require support from Individual Members and Corporate Members to soft launch in Lancashire, with extra incentives for coming in from the start. But first, let me tell you a bit more about me and how the idea came about...…
When I became a single parent, it became apparent that when I challenged my little boy to do something, it created a natural competitiveness that encouraged him to try a lot harder and be more committed to the task at hand. So instead of asking him to do things, I would challenge him to do them instead, so much so that it worked in all aspects of life. From keeping his room tidy, to helping around the house, planning social events, weekends away and stepping out of his comfort zone to try new activities. His positivity blossomed and he is now doing things and increasing his skills in so many different aspects of his life. I am a believer of not forcing things onto children and gave him the freedom to accept or decline the challenge, making it his own choice. I wouldn't challenge anything that I wasn't willing to do myself and I would do the challenge with him if he wanted me to. He could also challenge me to do things, based on the same understanding.
Having a relatively isolating lifestyle as a single parent with very little support network around me, I was struggling to strike an effective work/life balance and I wanted to create a business that would enable us to do things together as a family and help other people that may also be socially isolated. I started making contact with fellow single parents, social networks and local businesses with a view to making the idea commercial. Making it appeal to the masses and opening it up to everyone.
The website is now designed and under production, providing activity and challenge databases, members area and social network.
The site is interactive and once subscribed, the member will have access to all the challenges and criteria, a membership page where they can connect with other members to open up challenges to friends, families and groups. This system allows challenges to be sent to connected members and tackles some of the major social isolation problems that a lot of parents are encountering. Not only does this work from a single parent perspective, but it works for individuals who want to challenge themselves, for groups who want to open up social challenges but primarily to encourage families to spend more quality time together.
The challenges focus on exploring new adventure, activities and attractions. We encourage getting involved with local projects & social groups, supporting good causes, developing knowledge and personal growth over 7 main target areas:
- Sports and Adventure
- Hobbies & Interests
- Life Skills & Personal Development
- Health & Wellbeing,
- Community, Charity & Environment
- Days Out & Attractions
- Animals & Wildlife
The website is designed and under production, due to soft launch in October 2019 and funds raised will be for website development.
We are asking for a £20 donation to become an "Individual Member" which will allow personal use for upto 4 family members. This one off introductory fee will give you a membership that is valid for 2 years from the date that the website goes live, which is due to launch in October 2019.
There will be extensive member benefits including but not limited to: discounts on activities with our linked corporate members, monthly activity prizes and giveaways, league tables of achievers, organised group events, shared community success stories, connectivity to other members, access to all challenges and archive of all challenges completed.
We are asking for a £50 donation to become a "Corporate Member" which will provide a company & activity profile page, links and recommendations to appropriate challenge criteria, advertising opportunities through notice boards and a free individual membership. This would be suitable for all leisure providers and attractions.
This is completely unique and there is nothing on the market like this. The potential is huge and very, very real. You only have to listen out for the word "challenge" in every day life to understand the scale this project could develop into. I hope you like the sound of it and want to get on board from the start.
